Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Movement & Improvisation Coach to join our faculty. The ideal candidate will help students connect body and mind, explore physical expression, and enhance spontaneity through movement-based techniques and improvisational training. The coach will work closely with acting instructors to enrich the curriculum and support the physical and creative development of aspiring actors.
Key Responsibilities
Design and deliver engaging movement and improvisation classes for beginner to advanced acting students.
Teach techniques rooted in practices such as Viewpoints, Laban, Lecoq, Alexander Technique, or Suzuki.
Incorporate improvisational exercises that develop creativity, responsiveness, and ensemble work.
Help students build body awareness, flexibility, coordination, and physical presence on stage.
Collaborate with acting and voice coaches to ensure integrated actor training.
Prepare students for performances, auditions, and physical theatre presentations.
Provide regular feedback and assessments to support individual growth.
Organize workshops and guest sessions with industry professionals.
Maintain a safe and inclusive studio environment.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Performing Arts, Theatre, Dance, or a related field.
Professional experience as a movement artist, choreographer, physical theatre performer, or improviser.
Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in movement or improvisation (preferably in a drama or acting school).
Strong understanding of actor training methods and physical theatre traditions.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to inspire and connect with students of various ages and skill levels.
Preferred Skills
Knowledge of yoga, martial arts, or stage combat is a plus.
Experience with devising theatre and ensemble creation.
Familiarity with digital tools for remote or hybrid classes.
